Medicinal use:

Shankhpushpi is used for improving memory, mental power and treating mental fatigue. Butterfly pea consists of Acetylcholine, and its consumption helps to increase the levels of Acetylcholine in the brain. Acetylcholine decreases with progress in age causing loss of memory and other problems. Consumption of butterfly pea can reverse this process and improve the thinking abilities.

It alleviates swelling and pain and helps in wound healing. It has haemostatic action hence it is used in piles especially bleeding piles.

About the plant:

This wonderful twining plant generously bears quite large flowers which are a beautiful shade of vivid cobalt blue with a white throat. The flowers are presented upside down – the “keel” petal appears on the top rather than the underside.

Usage:

Root, bark, and seeds are used combinedly as per the requirement

How to grow:

Asian pigeonwings likes a position of full sun / partial sun and remember to water moderately. It requires a loamy soil with a ph of 6.6 – 7.5 – it grows best in weakly acidic soil – weakly alkaline soil.
