Black Turmeric is a wonder herb with many curative properties, mostly used for medicinal purposes instead of cooking. About the plant:
Black Turmeric is a perennial herb belongs to the ginger family and is native to India. It is a short plant grows up to 2 meters. This plant propagates with rhizome and yellow-brown long roots are present all over the surface of the rhizome. Rhizome is aromatic and dark brown in color, grows up to 2 to 3 cm in diameter and extremely bitter in taste.
How to grow:
Growing black turmeric plant is very similar to the normal turmeric plant. This plant may be grown indoors as a houseplant, or outdoors. Spring and summer are perfect for planting black turmeric plant. Sprouted rhizomes are used for planting and it requires well-draining soil. Dig a few shallow holes in the soil, large enough to fit the newly sprouted rhizomes and plant them. Water it regularly to keep the soil moist at all times. Container plants dry out quickly and may need daily watering during the summer.

How to use:
The fresh rhizome paste is applied externally on bruises, contusions, and rheumatic pains. A decoction of the fresh rhizome as anti-diarrhoetic and to get relief from stomach ache.
